Description
Twelve-year-old Apoorva Joshi has been asked to keep a diary.
She agrees on the condition that she will only write about 12 special meals that she eats over the next few months. Soon, however, Apoorva is chronicling not only the best meals she has eaten, but her constantly changing equations with the people around her.
Through the pages of her diary, we are introduced to the perils of being a fat, pre-adolescent girl in school. Her parents’ concern over her weight, which often borders obsession, the repetitive taunting at school, and the sibling dynamic she shares is all too relatable.
How she stays afloat through it all and further goes on to unveil a monster in disguise forms the rest of the story.
