Description

It all begins when Jadav sees a group of snakes that have washed up along the sandy banks of the Brahmaputra. With no shade to shield them from the blazing heat, they are on the brink of death. 🐍☀

The sight saddens Jadav so much that he resolves to rectify the situation by raising a forest.

He starts by planting bamboo shoots. In time, they make the dry, dead ground rich and fertile. Now the soil is ready for saplings!

Jadav plants seeds of various kinds. Over the years, they take root and grow into majestic trees that attract birds and animals. 🦆🦌🐇

This story of how a single man transforms a no-trees-place into a many-trees-place is inspired by the life of Jadav ‘Molai’ Payeng, a conservationist from Assam.

Jadav continues to visit and nurture his forest every day. He has received the Padma Shri, one of the top awards from the Indian government, for his selfless efforts.
